Translational Clinical Psychology Lübeck

Welcome to the new landing page of the Translational Clinical Psychology research groups at Lübeck University!

Currently, we are three research groups affiliated with the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy. We use experimental and computational methods to describe psychological processes, with the aim of translating our findings into clinical practice.

“Sleep plays a fundamental role in both emotional and cognitive functioning. At the same time, nearly all individuals with psychiatric disorders experience pronounced sleep disturbances. Our research aims to elucidate the role of sleep within the broader context of psychopathology and psychotherapy, with the overarching goal of translating insights from basic science into clinical practice.”

“Social information plays a central role in how people understand themselves. In our research, we investigate how individuals form self-concepts and how these concepts are shaped by the social environment and the feedback people receive within it. We start from the premise that the formation and revision of self-concepts, self-beliefs, or mindsets are not neutral processes, but are always influenced by a person’s learning history, motivations, and emotional states.”
